More food for thought ….

Yup, it’s Friday again but a full week this time. I hope you had a great one!

Finally settling down to my vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, antibiotics-free, raw, non-GMO, organic, fat free, low carb meal!

Food for Thought

I loved the book, Can’t Hurt Me … although not without the painful recognition that I can do A LOT MORE. If you can embrace powerful and inspiring motivation … at the same time your shortcomings are dramatized … then you’ll enjoy this book, which is a very inspiring read.

It’s subtitled, “Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds”, written by David Goggins.

His childhood was a nightmare — poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights … and then he became the only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller, ultimately inspiring Outside magazine to name him “The Fittest (Real) Man in America.

You probably know that I am an aficionado of the  book by David Allen. By now, GTD has become almost a religion with productivity gurus (like me) and millions who are seeking harmony across all of the aspects of their life.

One intriguing thought that comes from this approach is this simple quote:

“… you’ll need to get in the habit of keeping nothing on your mind.”

The essence of this belief is that you need to get everything out of your head and into a trusted system, whether on paper or in a digital system. EVERYTHING!

If you haven’t read this book, do yourself a favor and pick it up. It’s an easy read and I guarantee you will come away with more than one nugget that will help you get closer to the life balance and harmony you’re seeking.

I love college football and College Game Day on ESPN. One of the funniest components of that program is showing the clever student signs on the campus they’re visiting.

Here are a few of my recent favorites, the best one at the top.

  • [Insert coaches name or any name] eats his M&Ms in alphabetical order.
  • The Hawks (university of Iowa Hawkeyes) bale wet hay, or
  • They also eat field corn. (No one on the show seemed to know what that is, a few thought it was a good thing, but I know it’s the kind of “hard as rocks” corn you feed the animals not the humans.)

Enjoy the weekend.
