Seriously? Taxing a round of golf?

golfThe New York Times had some fun with Gov. Schwarzenegger’s idea … I missed it the first time around … to put a $10 tax on a round of golf. It got quashed, thankfully, but I like some of Bill Pennington’s ideas about how to make this really work

  • A mulligan? That will be $1.
  • What? Another one? That’s $2.
  • Permission to reposition the tee markers, which are devilishly aiming everyone toward the woods? Another dollar.
  • Completely overcome with first-tee jitters? For $5, the assistant pro will hit your first shot for you.
