Playboy . . . Laxatives . . . Candy?

The NY Times today published an article surveying the multitude of indexes that have been proffered as measures of recessionary activity. More laxatives are sold – you can conjure why that is – more deodorant, more candy and whiskey, less eggs and shorter hair, all of these benchmarks of a slow economy.
“Playmates of the Year”, for example, tend to have a “more mature appearance – that is, to be older, heavier, taller and less curvy” during these times.” No wonder we’re hoping for a quick economic recovery!
