Hi. I’m Lary Kirchenbauer, President of Exkalibur and I want to welcome you to our web site.
We know that your time is valuable … there’s never enough to go around, is there?
Your day is chocked full of business, family, kids, sports, maybe some exercise, soccer practice, a few meals, some great wine I hope. So, we’re working very hard to deliver practical strategies that you can capture quickly and put to work immediately to help you build your business.
No fluff, no B.S., just real stuff that we’ve tried to strip down to its bare essentials and serve in manageable increments you can easily digest … every time.
For more than four years, we’ve been building a lot of valuable content with more than 500 articles in our library as well as video and audio episodes that we’re always updating. None of the current content is for sale, so everything is complimentary.
Our Sword Tips blog is the front line of our service to you, and includes almost everything we publish … observations, commentary, my newspaper column, videos, podcasts … all of it. Since we believe that superior business performance is driven by what happens at the “intersection of strategy, finance and leadership”, we cover the most important subjects that will make you a better business leader.
The one exception to this rule is that we don’t publish all of the links, resources and quotations we love to use because we don’t think our subscribers want to get all of that information all the time.
That’s why we’ve upgraded our Facebook page, where you’ll always find a great quote and links to valuable resources and articles that we uncover as we roam the newsstands and the Internet. We’re reading blogs, magazines and newspapers to find the stuff that will really help you, so stop by, LIKE our page, and get access to all of that content at your leisure.
Our Client Services section describes the range of our services and I invite you to consider them. We pride ourselves on being very responsive, with rigorous follow up to get things done. We will not only help you address your issues with urgency and insight but I will be glad to sit down with you, anytime, to listen to what’s on your mind and think about it with you to see if we can develop a plan that works for you.
Tell me what’s on your mind and let’s think about it together.
In the meantime, I’ve outlined below some of the special features on our web site and particular ways in which we believe we can help you create the greatest impact on your business performance.
“The importance of knowing accounting can not be underestimated, it’s the language of business. If you don’t know it, it’s like being in a foreign country without knowing the language.” ~Warren Buffett
It’s hard to disagree with Warren Buffet … so we’re working even harder to make business finance accessible even if you don’t have an accounting degree or an MBA. That’s why we’ve added a special section we call Financial Adrenaline … our term to help you turbocharge your business with practical tips and techniques to help you understand the core principles of business finance to improve free cash flow, the lifeblood of business.
If your first inclination is to run toward the exits when finance is mentioned, it’s only because you’ve been led to believe that these principles are understandable only by seasoned and studied financial professionals. Hogwash. Yes, you’ll have to devote some time and attention to it, but these principles are very accessible and you CAN LEARN them, certainly well enough to work closely with your financial team to make sure everyone’s paying attention to the right things. If you’re going to be a successful business executive, you can’t ignore these these principles.
So, to help you even more, we’re adding a Financial Adrenaline Video Library- also, complimentary to everyone – to help educate you about these core principles of business finance. We will announce it as soon as it’s ready.
It’s presented in short bursts, in easy to understand language, without financial jargon and using powerful visual and interactive tools to explain it all. Check it out in our Learning Center and let me know if we’ve hit the mark and what more we can do to help you understand and implement these critical principles of business finance. If you only want to concentrate on the business finance section, we’ve made it possible to separately subscribe via email or RSS feed … even with your Kindle.
We’re also added a continuing audio series covering a wide variety of topics important to Building a Business. These podcasts will include Action Planning, for example, our way of integrating “Strategery” with a clear, simple Action Plan to make sure your plans are actually implemented … and we briefly explain the 5 cornerstones required to develop an Action Plan. We also discuss how to put “fun” back in “dysfunctional” for family businesses, whether they should add outsiders to their boards of directors and whether performance standards should be relaxed for family members. We cover important tools to help you become a better leader, how to consider compensation in the context of incentives and motivation as well as handy tips to improve communication within your teams.
Listen and watch these podcasts as often as you like. By all means, be sure to let me know if we’re missing the mark and what else we can add that will directly help you.
So, please explore our site. Read about the Legend of Exkalibur – and remember that freeing the sword from the stone is about understanding not strength. Start a conversation by commenting on Sword Tips, our blog where you can find valuable, timely information and provocative ideas that will inspire or inform you on your journey. Some of them are poignant reminders of our humanity; others encourage us not to take ourselves too seriously.
We appreciate your visit and hope you’ll subscribe to our Sword Tips blog, via email or RSS feed … yes, your Kindle too … so you don’t miss any of the written, video and audio materials. There’s no cost and you can unsubscribe at any time if we don’t keep our promises to you.
We also consult directly with middle market businesses, so be sure to examine our Client Services section. I’ve also expanded my public speaking plans in 2010 and beyond, so let me know if you’d like me to speak to your business group on practical strategies to drive superior business performance.
I hope we’ll have a chance to connect directly sometime soon.
